(Joh 3:16-18) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God
(1Co 15:1-4) Moreover, brethren, I declare unto
you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and
wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I
preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you
first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins
according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again
the third day according to the scriptures:
Jer 17:9-10
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can
know it? (10) I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give
every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
2Co 5:17 Therefore if
any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away;
behold, all things are become new.
Eph 4:11-15 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; (12) For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: (13) Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: (14) That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; (15) But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
Dispensationalism. A dispensationalist believes that God's program for the ages is executed directly by His Son, Jesus Christ, on the basis of the covenants. The New Covenant is the covenant under which Jesus Christ (Messiah) ministers today.
Premillennial. A premillennialist believes that Messiah will return in order to establish His earthly reign through Israel. Because this 1,000 year (millennium) reign is preceded by Christ's return we say we are Premillennial.
Pretribulation Rapture. The Old Testament describes a seven year period of world-wide tribulation and the judgment of Antichrist and Babylon just prior to Christ's return. Those who believe the church (the spiritual body of Christ) will be taken to be with Christ before this period are called pretribulation rapturists.
Fundamentalism. Not to be confused with the nonsense you hear on television and in the news, a Christian fundamentalist is simply someone who believes in the basic truths taught in the Bible. Fundamentalists are neither fanatical nor radical. Unfortunately, the media relishes in labeling extremists of all sorts as fundamentalists, though they are rarely associated in any way with what God's Word teaches.
Many folks who are "attracted to Jesus" in the world of seeker-type churches never truly come to know Christ as their Savor. They are caught up on the “community” of worship and acceptance, and remain unaware that their mere worship is in no way an indication of true salvation. The Bible admonishes us to examine ourselves to be sure we are in the faith:
2Co 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
Millions of folks call themselves Christians and believe, in a general sense that Christ died for their sins. That is a long, long way, from being in Christ by becoming a new creation. Please read our Start With Your Heart page if you have any doubts about your relationship with Christ!
